Trip to Malaysia (last page)
Last days we stayed in Penang visiting the butterfly farm, walking in the resort area and swimming in the pool. We spent two amazing weeks in Malaysia and the day to go home came. It was a pity to leave this wonderful country so quickly. We left Penang on December 19th, 1995. Mr. Goh kindly drove us to the airport. At this picture you see me listening Mr. Goh's last travel advises at Bayan Lepas Penang International airport. Saying goodbye Mr. Goh told us he was very glad to meet new friends from Russia and he hopes on our longtime friendship. So did I. We keep correspondence and I still hope to visit this marvellous country again.
Departure area of the airport met us with the most wonderful acquariums I ever saw in my life. We were leaving Malaysia but kept on seing new amazing things. One hour in flight and we landed at Changi. Singapore met us with rain, like if the weather cried with us about leaving this tropical heaven. We spent almost six hours walking at the airport enjoying last minutes in the capitalist country. Everything was different from my home city and sometimes I think it was just a dream. I began to miss Penang already but at the same time I felt missing home. I knew I had to come back to my studies at the university but I was afraid of coming back to winter with its frost and snow. At last, we passed to the boarding area. Coming to the gate we saw a plane arrived from Khabarovsk. It was Iljushin-62M of Aeroflot. We were nine hours of flight from home... But one more thing happened before our plane landed in Khabarovsk. Our back flight passed through the airspace of Japan. The crew informed us we were flying over Tokyo. I knew it called megalopolis but I had not suspected it would be looking so splendid. Can you imagine shining and glowing ocean of lights stretching in all directions to the horizon. We enjoyed that breathtaking sight for about ten minutes. Khabarovsk met us with joyless
and sullen people and we knew we came back to Russia. But deeply
inside I was happy!
